EKU Online Fire Investigation Professor Visits Korea
Written by Greg Gorbett
I was invited by the Korea Fire Investigation Institute (KFII) and Hoseo University to give a presentation on the use of computer fire modeling for fire investigators. Hoseo University and KFII are collaborating on increasing the reliability of forensic fire scene reconstruction in South Korea. I will be co-presenting with Dr. Kwon, the Department Chair for Fire and Disaster Protection Engineering at Hoseo University, and Drs. Honma and Yamada from the Department of Forensic Science at the National Research Institute of Police Science in Japan. This is the second time that I have been invited to South Korea to present on the research and work being accomplished at EKU. The Department of Fire Protection Engineering at Hoseo University and the Department of Fire Protection and Paramedicine Sciences at EKU will be signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to encourage research and future plans between EKU and Hoseo University. I am grateful for the opportunity to once again discuss the cutting edge research and vision that EKU has outlined for the fire investigation profession. I am also equally excited to expand our research interests with the representatives from Japan’s forensic science community.
