Eastern Blazes Ahead in Fire Investigation
Greg Gorbett, an assistant professor who teaches online and on-campus courses at Eastern, has been nationally recognized as a prominent fire investigation official. Gorbett was recently featured in The Eastern Progress.
"Gorbett helped re-examine a 1970 fire at the Pioneer Hotel in Arizona from which a man, Louis Taylor, was convicted of arson and 28 counts of murder and sentenced to life in prison. In the review, Gorbett and several other prominent fire investigation officials, showed the fire investigation conducted during the 1970s had used faulty science and failed to support the arson charge against Taylor."
