How do I become a fire investigator?
Multiple routes are generally acceptable for becoming a fire investigator. From the engineering discipline, those who design and install systems to protect people and buildings examine the scenes where fires occur to assess competence of protective measures. Many fire investigators began as fire fighters or police officers assigned to determine the origin and cause of fires, then some move to become private investigators that contract for insurance companies, manufacturers, and attorneys. EKU’s curriculum is unique in providing education focusing on investigations that enhance the capabilities of newer investigators.
